"you weren't supposed to come in here yet."

  • spinach
  • mixed leafy greens
  • blueberries
  • blackberries
  • raspberries
  • ice cubes
  • coconut oil
  • coconut butter
  • tupalo honey
that's what you mix and that, above, is what you get. a delicious smoothie for a happy saturday morning! i successfully recreated my father's epic healthful smoothie recipe this morning, and i even doubled the batch to share with my best friend and roommate alyson. she walked in while i was stuffing the blender with spinach and, as she despises vegetables, i was greeted with a face like a question mark. "you weren't supposed to come in here yet," i remarked as i bashfully continued; i had offered her a smoothie but was hoping i could get the greens blended before she discovered i was slipping her some leafy goodness. "i actually don't mind spinach," she easily replied. eh, works for me, although i'm not sure i believe her, seeing as how i have SEEN how much she barfs at the thought of nearly all things vegetarian.

i digress.

this morning, i woke up to a drizzly saturday sky, and i couldn't help it--i skipped the sunrise walk and let my body have an extra two hours of sleep. there wouldn't be a sunrise with the overcast skies, anyway, and i have a gym i can work out in later. <--this is the attitude i need to nip in the bud, i can't be putting things off! but i'm still being a little lenient on myself this weekend... moving in has been exhausting, what with all the bringing things up to the third floor apartment, running errands in the heat, and moving things around. i was sore in my back, butt, arms, and legs yesterday, so i think that sufficed for a workout. (partial seriousness here folks)

alyson and i had plans for the athens farmers market today, so we got up and dressed ourselves and headed over to Bishop Park. i didn't have any cash, so alyson sponsored the morning, purchasing some lovely flowers (again, seen above) for our home, along with some delicious locally made organic pesto (pasta tonight? yes), a cup of honey lemonade, and some terrapin beer bread. next time i have money, i will go to town on that farmers market. and i plan on purchasing my veggies and fruits there now, rather than the grocer, because locally grown is so much better, and a lot of the farms around here focus on organic as well. i'm excited.:)
