Meeting Ben Davis.

It's a strange, exciting day when you suddenly find out the exact date you're going to get the chance to meet your inspiration and hero.

Ben Davis will be in Atlanta for his '52 Project'  January 26th-29th. He's running in the Callaway Marathon. I can't even explain to you how nervous and excited that makes me. You can bet I'm going to be at that finish line waiting to give him a hug and a bottle of water.

This is also really great news because, well, it's a heck of a lot sooner than I'd anticipated I'd meet him. In my mind, I'd be this super fit, successful athlete when I finally shook his hand. I'd be showing him my before pictures and bragging about how amazing the journey has been. I didn't realize I'd be meeting him mid-way in that journey.

That said, I think this is the fire I needed to light under my ass to get moving again. I don't want to meet him as a 195 pound girl who can kinda run 4 or 5 miles. I want to take the next couple months and really push it again--since, oh, forgot to mention, I'm FINALLY feeling better. I went for a swim last night, which felt great, and I'm going for a run in a little bit.

I'm nervous to run again, since it's been so freaking long since I've done it, but the weather is so nice and warm tonight, it would be a downright SHAME to waste this opportunity.

So here's some goals. And some honesty.

Weighed myself this morning at 203. The lowest I've caught myself on the scale was 201 about a month ago. My goal is to hit 199 before December. Then, I want to start the new year in the 180s. Hopefully by the time I meet Ben, I can be about 175. I'd be 12 pounds from that first Ultimate Weight Goal, and I know I'd be proud to talk about my story then.

For those of you that don't know, I'm planning on running my first half marathon in March (aka in 125 days). So I really need to keep at this project and never stop fighting for fitness, happiness, and wholeness.
